Dragons, the earth and magic

If the dragons pull from the earth, why do human become Venin if they pull from the earth? Why do Venins get mean? Is it because they crave more and more earth magic and it's an addiction to more power?

I wonder if we will know why red eyes, why veins on their faces, theyr're just now realizing Vennin's have signets? Maybe something happening to cause them getting signet? Maybe I am overthinking this????

Xaden's chapter

I'm re-reading slowly and catching so much. In ch66- Xaden's POV- the missive from Lieutenant Colonel Nolon to Lilith it says "We've tried every method we know of, as you requested, there is no cure, only control." So...I get the feeling this was a missive from the past and it was not referring to trying to cure Jack Barlowe. Could it possibly be that Violet's father turned Venin and this has something to do with Violet being dedicated or connected to why Navarre closed their borders because of something with the Venin threat outside of the wards? Lilith was trying to cure Asher. I don't think he died from shock that he thought Brennan was dead- that doesn't make sense to me. Was he poisoned or murdered because he was Venin and for some reason pulled from the ground? Why did he need more power?

Tairn

Do the dragons get their magic from the earth? If not, then from where? I'm doing a re-read and now I'm in OS. In ch10 there's a line from Violet: "I'd almost forgot how wild magic feels outside the wards, how accessible. Tairn's power seems endless, deeper than the ceans I've never crossed, wider than the vast sky above us." Maybe it's just descriptive, or maybe there is more in that line. She says power hums in her veins. I cannot remember if the wards dampen the magic for them- but why would Tairn's power seem endless without the wards if he wasn't getting his power from someplace the wards would protect from- like the earth- where venin cannot reach.
