Coming back post ankle ORIF

No medical advice (get enough of that from two physical therapist and my surgeon); looking for advice from others who have come back from ankle surgery.

Four months ago I broke my ankle and a month after had surgery. I have a plate, screws and a tightrope. I’m finally at a point where I can walk (although it’s not pretty and working on my ankle flexibility) and drive (most important). I’ve been cleared to do most things, just not the fastest as you can imagine.

Surgeon told me I need to walk more, get on a treadmill. So here’s the thing right, I can get on a treadmill but literally like 2.0 mph is probably my max. I’m starting from the beginning; literally beginning because my upper body is probably not where it was 4 months ago either.

Anyone come back from a similar injury/surgery? Hate to take up a spot in a class when I can’t do much, but I need to get restarted to feeling like me.

First Pedicure in 4 months

Finally went in for a pedicure, 4 months post fracture, 3 months post surgery, 2-ish months of physical therapy. Felt well enough to treat myself for Mother’s Day and get the fancy pedicure.

Go get yourself the fancy pedicure.

Three months post-op and have been walking with regular sneakers a couple weeks now. I’m using a cane when outside the house but inside I’m trying without it. It’s going OK. My dorsiflextion isn’t where it needs to be but getting better.

Today though I noticed my toes on the opposite foot (the non injured) getting numb. Assuming this is normal but how annoying. My gait is still off and getting used to weight bearing is rough.
