Hey, long time lurker.
quick question as i can’t find the answers anywhere else and the subject is kind of dodgy.
i have a kindle paperwhite 10th gen. used it for years and love it.
i’ve bought one book through the amazon store in the entirety of owning my kindle. i strictly get my books from various sources and load them into calibre and then plug my kindle into my computer and send them over to the device.
i’m looking to upgrade to the paperwhite 12th gen. around prime day or another decent sale. i know there’s so many other options and amazing e-readers. i just appreciate the form factor and already know the ins and outs of these devices as well as not actually being currently engrained into the amazon ecosystem.
i see a lot of talk randomly about side loading and some having issues. basically my question is: has there been any new news or information about any changes coming up that would prevent me from continuing to read and load books onto a kindle device the way i’m doing so right now? i would just hate to soon upgrade and then find out calibre no longer works or kindle doesn’t support side loading from a computer.
i also use windows 10 and have seen some discussion about calibre and windows 11? again i’m slightly ignorant to some of this stuff so any comments or info would be super appreciated.
love the community here. cheers everyone and thank you.
edit: i forgot to mention i have seen changes slowly happening regarding DRM and amazon making lazy changes and trying to prevent a non amazon experience and that no one can ultimately say what they will do. more so wondering if there’s any news that’s sprung up about this.
