Unexplained infertility. Husbands sperm count was “low” when he was tested. Dr put him on a regimen of vitamins and CoQ 10. After about 2 months, his could was up to 3 million. He has seen a repro urologist. After his testicular ultrasound a week ago, the md hasn’t followed up yet. The MyChart report from the radiologist showed “normal” ultrasound but with one testing measuring a few cm bigger than the other.

To be honest, I was kinda banking everything on it being a varicocele and that repairing it would fix our issues or at least make it more likely to conceive. Is it possible to have a varicocele even if the ultrasound was normal. Anyone else had this? I guess I’m just not sure about what the next steps would be to explaining why his count is so low.

The specialist told us he needed to be at 15 million to get me pregnant. At this point, the wouldn’t even consider IVF because count is so low.

Advice?

Looking for a PCP for a family member who recently moved to the area. She is overweight and has had a lot of issues with doctors who don’t see anything besides her weight (which she has been losing steadily). For example, her last primary missed an infection because she was more concerned with lecturing about obesity.

Anyone have a primary in the area (hopefully accepting new patients) who doesnt have blinders on towards obese folks?

*to clarify, I’m not asking for any doctor to ignore health issues that come with obesity. My family member is just basically scared to see doctors now for any reason because they always lecture her about her weight. She has an idea that she just won’t be seen by a PCP until she loses more weight. I don’t think this is the best plan.

When I first started prepping, I followed a couple of Youtubers and a few of them are still online. What I’ve noticed is that one has leaned completely into fear mongering and weird conspiracies (Tommy bites). Can we get a list of YouTubers that are beneficial?

I don’t mean in a violent way but in a “damn, I’m bored” way. Lately, I’ve read a few fan fics of the world of Gilead. Rewatching the show and it seems like the wives should be bored out of their minds. I wish we saw more of the “I thought this would be different” moments from the wives other than that scene of Serena not being allowed to speak to the group of men.

Think about it, the wives probably thought it would be really awesome to have a full time servant (or multiple) and not have to lift a finger. I get it, that sounds great on paper. But in practice, the realization that the Martha and handmaid are slaves, having to go through the ceremony and then not having anything to mentally stimulate you day in and day out sounds horrible.

Yes I’m aware they would still be very privileged compared to all the other women in Gilead but I can’t imagine Serena is the only one having a “leopards are eating my face” moment.
