Slightly spontaneous trip soon
Hello!
A colleague of mine was told only last week that he will be able to go to the Annecy Animation Festival this year and I've been invited along provided his department is able to find accommodation for us. (I am aware this might be impossible).
Although this is exciting, it is rather sudden for me. (I'll have to get a visa for instance). I live in South Africa and have only been to France once as a child and I have never been to Annecy. I was wondering if there is any advice or tips anyone could give me? I read up about renting bikes, avoiding tourist trap restaurants, and the hours to expect places to be open. But I am unsure what weather I should be packing clothes for (the festival is about a week starting on the 21st of June). As well as what I should know regarding perhaps safety of the city itself, what to expect as someone not from the town, what to be aware of that might be overpriced, (South Africa does not have a strong currency so I'd like to avoid unnecessary expenses) and perhaps general etiquette and rules I might not be aware of.
I know this is a little vague as far as a question goes, But I thought it might be worth asking people directly about the location rather than watching someone's vlog as we will most likely be focused on the festival itself and may not have time for the more common sightseeing activities.
If his department manages to find accommodation on such short notice. But I'm trying to be optimistic. 😅
