2017 Premier: Upgrade or dump it?
My 2017 Premier 4x4 is at 140k and is on its 2nd transmission and is showing signs of needing a 3rd soon. I did the thermostat bypass, but apparently not soon enough after #2 was installed. No lifter clicking (yet?). Paint is shot on the hood. And I’ve got something loose inside my exhaust system. My mechanic thinks it could be one of my cats breaking down and dumping debris into my muffler.
Otherwise, the truck is in great shape. I replaced the air ride shocks last year (aftermarket, but solid so far).
Do I sink $1500-2000 into a new exhaust system and assume I’ll be dropping $5000 on transmission #3 within a year? At that point, all that would be left is the AFM delete.
At the end of the day, it’s still way cheaper than buying new. Plus, I wouldn’t want to buy anything recent anyway due to the current engine and trans issues…
What do you guys think?
