I'm just curious on where to post it so other people can see it.

It's easy to notice that of all the main royals in Fire Emblem Engage, Timerra had the least amount of screentime (at least in the main story). To make up for this, I wanted to share with you a fanmade side story (taking place after the final battle against Sombron) featuring Timerra as a surprisingly effective babysitter to a shy and quiet little boy.

Fanfic Side Story With Timerra: The Little Ant’s Big Sleepover

Characters:

Timerra: Crown Princess of Solm. Energetic, free-spirited, and surprisingly gentle.

Xego: A timid 6-year-old boy with a massive (and very cute) crush on Timerra.

Seforia: The Queen of Solm (brief appearance).

Xego’s Parents: Good friends of the royal family.

Alfred, Diamant and Ivy: Other Royals (brief appearance).

Fogado: Timerra's younger brother (brief appearance).

Prologue

Just a few weeks after the events of Engage's main story, Timerra explains to the other royals, Alfred, Diamant and Ivy plus her brother Fogado that just a few days ago, she had the job of babysitting a young boy named Xego. The others chuckle, finding it tough to believe she could handle it so well due to her loud and wild nature. Maybe as time passes, they'll be surprised. Timerra recalls all of what happened during the first time seeing the boy...

Act I: The Shy Arrival

The grand, colorful halls of the Solm Palace are usually bustling, but one morning, they feel incredibly daunting to six-year-old Xego. Clutching his mother’s skirt, he hides his face as Queen Seforia chuckles warmly.

"Oh, look at him, he’s like a little desert mouse!" Seforia beams, patting Xego’s father on the back. "Don't you worry. My Timerra is fantastic with kids. She’ll keep him safe—and thoroughly entertained."

Right on cue, a whirlwind of bright colors, jangling beads, and pure energy bursts into the room.

"Did someone say it’s babysitting time?!" Timerra slides across the polished floor, landing with a flashy pose. "Hey there, Xego! I’m Timerra. Ready to have the best day ever?"

Xego’s heart does a giant flip. She is so bright, so pretty, and her smile is like the Solm sun. He nods quickly, blushing a furious crimson, and finally lets go of his mother. His parents wave goodbye, leaving the shy boy alone with his ultimate crush.

Act II: Splashes, Songs, and the Best Feast Ever

It doesn't take long at all for Xego's shyness to melt away under Timerra’s infectious, positive nature.

1. The Royal Pool

The afternoon begins at the palace pool. While Xego is initially hesitant to jump in, Timerra gently coaxes him. Soon, the courtyard is filled with the sound of splashing and giggling. Timerra lifts him up, letting him splash her right in the face, laughing all the while. She even lets him ride her like a sea horse! *dolphin-like horse whinny*

This is the \"dolphin-like horse whinny\" sound I'm thinking of in case you're wondering.

Timerra personally prefers seahorses over regular earth horses.

2. The Racket of Solm's Newest Member

After drying off, Timerra pulls out her trusty hand-drum.

"To survive in Solm, you've gotta know the sacred hymns!" Timerra declares solemnly, before bursting into a loud, incredibly off-key song:

"Ohhhhh, sizzling on the fire, juicy and sweet!

Nothing in the world beats a giant hunk of MEAT!"

Xego giggles, his heart swelling. He beats his hands on his knees to keep time and joins in with his quiet voice. Timerra gasps in delight.

"That's it! You've got the rhythm, kiddo! I hereby dub you an honorary member of the Racket of Solm!" She places a colorful beaded wristband on his arm. Xego beams with pride.

3. The Feast

For dinner, Timerra pulls out all the stops. Xego's eyes go wide at the feast laid out before him: the tenderest, most flavorful spiced meat dishes he has ever tasted, followed by a mountain of sweet Solm pastries and honey-drizzled desserts. Timerra cheers him on with every bite, making him feel like a king.

On a sidenote: Timerra is lucky Xego already knows how to bathe himself by himself and enjoys that very much.

Act III: The Hauntingly Beautiful Lullaby

As night falls, the duo sets up a blanket fort in Timerra’s room for a slumber party. They stargaze at the stars outside and they tell silly stories (nothing like the fairy-tale books that Timerra hasn't ever been a fan of) until Xego’s eyelids grow heavy. He rubs his eyes, yawning softly.

"Time for sleep, little knight," Timerra says softly.

She tucks him into the sleeping bag. Xego looks up at her, whispering, "Timerra? Will you sing me a song? A quiet one?"

"A quiet one, huh? Let’s see..."

Timerra sits beside him. The loud, boisterous princess melts away, replaced by a gentle protector. She begins to sing.

To Xego's amazement, without her usual loud antics, her voice is stunning. She sings a hauntingly beautiful, minor-key lullaby—an old Solm folk tune about the stars watching over the desert sands. Her voice is smooth, rich, and incredibly soothing. Surrounded by the beautiful melody, Xego drifts off into a peaceful sleep, completely enchanted.

Act IV: The Leap of Faith

The next morning, they eat a delicious breakfast and enjoy some more fun until the afternoon when Xego’s parents arrive to pick him up.

"He was an absolute dream!" Timerra boasts to his parents. She kneels down to Xego’s eye level. "Thanks for being such a well-behaved, fun-loving knight, Xego."

With a warm smile, she plants a gentle, sisterly kiss on his cheek.

Thump-thump. Thump-thump. Xego’s heart goes into overdrive. Overwhelmed with pure excitement and affection, he doesn't just say goodbye. With a sudden burst of energy, Xego springs forward! He jumps right onto Timerra, wrapping both his arms tightly around her neck and his legs around her waist in a giant koala hug.

Timerra doesn't even flinch. She doesn't lean back at all; she stands perfectly stable, easily supporting his weight.

Xego buries his face in her shoulder, utterly amazed. She's not just beautiful, kind, peppy, and funny... she is really strong! "You're so, so strong, Timerra," Xego mumbles happily.

Timerra lets out an adorkable, flattered chuckle, wrapping her arms around him to hug him back and nuzzle him. "Hehe, well, a princess gotta carry her weight! I'm gonna miss you, little guy."

Epilogue: The Diligent Little Ant

In Solm, there is a famous fable about the lazy grasshopper and the hardworking ant.

Normally, six-year-olds hate chores and despise eating their vegetables. But ever since that magical weekend, Xego has made a strict choice. He wants to be the ant. A quiet little ant who's gotten comfortable in eating veggies and doing chores when he needs to.

Because he knows that with hard work, determination, and excellent behavior, there is a grand reward waiting for him.

Now, every single month, Xego eats all his greens, cleans his room, and helps around the house without a single complaint. His parents are mystified but thrilled. And true to her word, every month, Xego gets to spend a night, one and a half mornings and one and a half afternoons at the Solm Palace.

As soon as he arrives, Timerra is always there waiting at the gates with open arms. And with a joyful shout, Xego runs and leaps, greeting his favorite princess with open arms and legs, ready for another grand adventure.

Taver: (He stops walking, looking down at his boots for a moment before turning to face Shantae) "Shantae... before we go inside and finish this, I... I want you to know just how fortunate I feel to be standing here with you."

Shantae turns to him, her expression softening. She can tell this is important.

Taver: "My mom and dad... they disappeared in an accident not too long ago. There was no one to adopt me, and no one else to teach me how to defend myself. I was all alone in an abandoned library, just reading and training, trying to learn how to live in such a big and scary world. To think that I’d go from that... to going on a grand journey with the half-genie hero I idolize so much? It’s nothing short of a miracle."

Shantae listens intently, her heart aching. She looks deep into his eyes and sees the raw, lingering truth of his words. The sadness of his past is evident, but so is his quiet resilience.

Shantae: (Softly) "Taver... I had no idea. It must have been so hard for you, being out there all on your own."

She pauses, looking up at the imposing hideout, then back at him with a gentle, confiding smile.

Shantae: "You know... I’ve never even known my own parents. Uncle Mimic isn't my true uncle; he adopted me when I was just an infant, or at least, that's what he's told me. For a long time, it felt like I was searching for answers, too. But through my own adventures, I learned that while your past matters, the friends you make along the way are what really define your future."

Taver looks up, a genuine, relieved smile spreading across his face.

Taver: "We really are a lot alike, aren't we? It makes me feel... a lot less alone knowing you understand."

Shantae’s stance shifts. Her hands move to her hips, her signature ponytail flicking as her confidence returns in full force. The hesitation is gone.

Shantae: "Alright! With our bond, Risky is going to get the double boots! C'mon partner, let's dance through the danger!"

Taver strikes a pose, his gadgets glowing with readiness, his eyes bright with resolve.

Taver: "Ret-2-Go, big sis!!"

NEXT SCENE: The Final Showdown

Scene: The heart of Risky's Hideout. The chamber is metallic, humming with high-voltage energy, and dominated by a massive control console. Risky Boots stands at the center, hand on her hip, looking entirely unimpressed as Shantae and Taver burst into the room.

Taver: (Stepping in front, pointing his gadget forward with a dramatic flair) "Hold it right there, Risky!"

Risky: (She chuckles, a dark, melodic sound that echoes off the steel walls) "I see you've learned a lot about your genie friend. The catchphrases, the posture... how quaint."

Shantae: (Stepping up beside Taver, hair glowing with anticipation) "I hope you’re up for an extra-hard battle, Pirate Queen. Because this time, you aren't just fighting me. You’re up against a small but strong new ally—one you really shouldn't underestimate."

Risky: (She doesn't flinch, merely producing a sleek, glowing remote control) "Hmph. My Tinkerbats may have been quite unreliable... but I've found a way to handle you runts myself."

Risky slams her thumb down on a large red button on the remote. The floor beneath them grinds and shifts, suddenly opening up. Metal barriers slam down, splitting the room into two sealed compartments.

Shantae is locked on one side with Risky; Taver is dropped into a containment bay on the other side. As he lands, a puff of dark, purple smoke reveals a sinister, shadowed version of his partner: Nega-Shantae.

Nega-Shantae: (Laughing mockingly as she circles Taver) "Did the little hero get separated from his babysitter? Ha! You fell right into my trap!"

Taver: (Eyes widening in horror, backing up) "Shantae... you've turned evil again!"

Shantae: (Shouting through the metal grate, her voice frantic but firm) "No, Taver! That's just a clone of my evil form! I'm still me, just stuck in another locked room! Remember that you said you thought about being independent? Well, now’s your chance! While I fight off Risky, you take what I taught you and bring evil me to justice. You got this, little bro!!"

Risky: (Laughing from her side of the partition) "Give it up, half-genie! There’s no way your little mini-brat can hear you through these soundproof walls! He’s all alone now!"

Inside the containment bay, Taver stands frozen for a split second. Then, a smile spreads across his face. He grips his gadgets tightly, the fear vanishing as he looks toward the wall where from the opposite side, Shantae is fighting.

Taver: (Whispering to himself) "I hear you, big sis. She’s right; I totally got this. We may be in different rooms now, but our hearts still belong together! TIME TO DANCE THROUGH THE DANGER!!!!!"

RISKY AND NEGA-SHANTAE (Teamwork Makes The Scheme Work!)

NEXT SCENE: The Crumbling Climax

Scene: The boss room is in ruins. Sparks shower down from the ceiling, and the floor begins to buckle as the hideout’s structural integrity fails. Shantae stands over the defeated Risky Boots, while Taver exhales heavily near the dissipating shadow of Nega-Shantae.

(No music)

Risky: (Clutching her arm, glaring up from the debris) "To think... that not only did you beat me for the hundred and fifth time, but now a small boy with no magic was able to defeat my 'Nega-Whatshername' creation, too!?!"

Shantae: (Sheathing her hair, catching her breath) "You really shouldn't be surprised, Risky. I’ve got plenty of friends who have helped me stop you before. You keep making the same mistake—underestimating the people standing by my side."

Risky: "But this... this is just one small fry! He doesn't even have a genie lamp!"

Taver: (Sheathing a gadget and giving a cheeky grin) "Hey, watch it with the 'fry' talk. Maybe your evil-genie project was really just a prototype? Seems a bit 'version 1.0' to me."

Risky: (Her eyes widen with indignation) "Prototype?! How dare you! I spent years working on those dark-magic algorithms, long before that half-genie even turned bad! It was a masterpiece of villainous engineering!"

Taver: (Shrugs) "Masterpiece or not, it lacked the one thing that counts. I fought for my friend, and my loyalty gave me the edge. Your Nega-me had nothing but cold, dark spite. She was fighting for a pirate; I was fighting for my big sister."

Risky scoffs, pulling a lever on the wall with a spiteful grin.

Risky: "I see... how touching. In that case, I'll just leave both of you stuck in a factory that's about to crumble down on you! Ho ho ho ho!"

The entire facility groans, metal groaning as the foundations begin to collapse. Risky pivots and dashes toward an escape hatch, though she pauses for a split second, looking back with a bored expression.

Risky: (Mutters to herself) "Though I suppose those brats are probably going to escape... like always. It’s part of the routine, isn't it?"

She disappears into the shadows of the vents.

Taver: (Watching the walls start to cave in, rubble thundering down around them) "So... should we even need to say we should run?"

LAST SCENE: A Bond Forged in Starlight

Scene: The warm glow of the setting sun bathes Scuttle Town in amber light. Shantae and Taver stand just outside the Half-Genie’s cozy home. Beside them, sitting on the porch railing, is a small, whirring mechanical bird that looks uncannily like Sky’s companion, Wrench.

Shantae: (Pointing at the device, eyes wide in disbelief) "Your gadget can create a bird machine looking just like Wrench!? Why didn't you use it sooner?!"

Taver: (Rubbing the back of his neck, looking down at his boots) "I don't know... honestly, if I’d used it, I probably wouldn't have needed your help as much. I think I kept it tucked away just so I could spend more time with my idol."

Shantae’s expression softens, her surprise replaced by a glow of genuine pride. She places a hand on his shoulder.

Shantae: "You’ve really come a long way, Taver. Knowing you handled yourself well out there, battling it out on your own and winning... you’ve got real heart. I'll bet my other friends would welcome you to the family."

Taver: (He looks up, curious but hesitant) "Ah, you mean Bolo, the guy with low intelligence, Sky, the lady who flies with that 'Wrench' hawk you mentioned, and Rottytops... the zombie girl?"

Shantae: (Laughing softly) "That's them! Want to meet them?"

Taver: (He sighs, looking at the horizon) "...I'll think about it. Not now, at least."

Shantae: (Nodding understandingly, knowing her friends can be a handful) "That's understandable. They take some getting used to."

They share a warm, comfortable silence. Shantae looks at him, her eyes sparkling.

Shantae: "Anyway... put it there, partner! Woohoo!"

She raises her hand, palm open for a high-five. Taver, overcome with a rush of excitement and happiness from their successful adventure, doesn't just slap her hand. Instead, he leaps up, wrapping his arms through Shantae’s armpits, his hands gripping firmly onto her back for an enthusiastic, full-body hug. His feet dangle and tingle in the air.

Shantae is caught completely off guard, her eyes widening in surprise. But, a heartbeat later, her expression melts into a warm, genuine smile. She pulls him closer, holding him securely.

Shantae: (Softly) "You did awesome, little bro."

Taver: (Jumping slightly before realizing she's teasing him, then crossing his arms indignantly) "Hey, cut that out! I'm not afraid! I'll handle it okay with you around, big sis!"

Shantae: (Her expression softens, and she gives him a reassuring, gentle smile) "You’re doing just fine, partner. Honestly, as long as we stay together, neither of us will be scared. We’ve got each other’s backs, no matter what’s hiding in there."

Taver: (He takes a deep breath, puffing out his chest and drawing his gadgets, his fear quickly replaced by a grin) "You're right! We're a team. Let’s show this place who's boss. Bring it on!"

Scene: Shantae and Taver kick open the heavy doors to the inner sanctum of the castle. Hypno Baron floats in the center, surrounded by swirling purple magical residue.

Shantae: "Surprise, Hypno Baron! Your reign of creepiness ends here!"

Hypno Baron: "Blarrrrgh! It's YOU! And this time, it appears you've taken a little gremlin with you. How... intrusive."

Taver: (Looking around nervously) "A gremlin? Where!? Is it behind me? I hate gremlins!"

Shantae: (Sighing) "I think he's talking about you."

Hypno Baron: "Enough banter! You're just in time for my next incantation. Say goodbye to your short-lived little friendship as the END OF YOUR WORLD AWAITS!"

Hypno Baron throws his arms wide, unleashing a torrent of swirling, glittering mist that fills the room.

Shantae: (Covering her eyes) "No! Not again!!"

Taver: (Staring into the mist with wide eyes) "Well, big sis, before it ends, I must tell you I love collecting telescopes... the stars always seem so much closer when you're looking through a lens..."

The mist clears. A familiar, bobbing silhouette appears.

Squid Baron: "Yo!"

Taver: (Blinking, pointing his gadget at the floating cephalopod) "Wait, THAT'S the 'end of our world'?!?"

Shantae: (Groaning) "Ugh, this Squid Baron returning is exactly what I was afraid of. He just... won't stay away!"

Squid Baron does a little spin, glowing with a golden light as if he’s just been pulled from a treasure chest.

Squid Baron: "Behold! Summoned at last! I am the legendary 5-star gacha ally!"

Taver: "A gacha... what now?"

Shantae: "It means we have to fight him, but he’s acting like he’s a collector's item."

Taver: (To Hypno Baron) "Wait, if you summoned him, that makes you the lucky player, Hypno! However, Big Sis Shantae has an ULTRA rare SIX-star ally... ME!!!"

Squid Baron: (His tentacles stiffen in outrage) "You, a SIX-star?! I'll have you know I am a pinnacle of power! I hereby pronounce myself a SEVEN-star!! I'll prove it to you in a battle of party members!"

Shantae: "Oh boy. Here we go."

Scene: The magical mist settles in the chamber, and the golden glow of the defeated Squid Baron fades into nothingness. Hypno Baron stands alone in the center of the room, looking around in a huff.

(Music: Half-Genie Hero OST - Boss Defeated!)

Shantae: (Sheathing her hair) "Annnd there he goes again. Back to wherever he crawled out from."

Taver: (Crossing his arms, leaning back with a smug look) "Looks like you released your 5-star gacha ally, Hypno. Good luck summoning him again. You'll need it."

Hypno Baron: (He snorts, looking deeply offended) "Luck? I don't need luck, you little pest. I have plenty of Squid Baron gems! Someone traded them to me for a mere 2,000,000 gems—the kind that get you 1-star characters 99% of the time. It's a gold mine of cephalopod potential!"

Hypno Baron strikes a dramatic, villainous pose, his eyes swirling with purple spirals.

Hypno Baron: "Beware, for my anticipated Squid Baron merch will bring evil forces together! NEEEE-HEE-HEE-HEEE!"

With a flash of purple smoke and a shower of cheap, plastic-looking trinkets, Hypno Baron vanishes.

Shantae: (Looking down at the discarded, low-quality merch on the floor) "It's no wonder he keeps bringing the same guy back. He's probably spent his entire life savings and still hasn't pulled a featured character."

Taver: (Chuckling as he kicks a small Squid Baron figurine) "Hypno must really like allying with that octopus of all possible summons. It’s kind of tragic, really."

Shantae walks over to Taver, placing a hand on his shoulder. Her expression is proud and warm.

Shantae: "You know, Taver... I’ve been watching you. You’re really starting to grow. You’re handling yourself out there better than half the people I’ve befriended."

Taver: (He looks at her, then down at his gadgets, a thoughtful look on his face) "I... I guess I am. I wonder if maybe I could actually fend for myself on my own now... but..." He smiles, looking back at his role model. "...I still want to travel with my big sis role model. Adventures are just better with you."

Shantae: (She ruffles his hair, her smile turning determined) "I wouldn't have it any other way. But brace yourself, partner... because we're heading straight for the ultimate challenge."

Taver: "The Pirate Queen?"

Shantae: "Exactly. A 'final boss' type battle with her. Are you ready?"

Shantae: (Crossing her arms with a confident, nostalgic smile) "Actually, I’ve seen these up close a few times. I was in this very same race once—and I managed to take home the trophy."

Taver: (Stopping in his tracks, beaming at her) "Oh, wow! No wonder you're the best! You really are a champion at everything, aren't you?"

Shantae: (She steps up beside him, nudging him with her shoulder and flashing a playful, competitive smirk) "Flattery will get you everywhere, but can you actually keep up with a champion? I challenge you to a title defense race. Right now."

Taver: (He assumes a sprinting pose, his eyes practically sparkling with adrenaline) "Oh. You! Are!! So!!! ON!!!!"

Shantae: (She starts to head toward the starting line, waving a hand back at him) "Then let's see what you've got! Last one to the finish is a rug rat!"

NEXT SCENE: Aerial Confrontation

Scene: Shantae and Taver land gracefully on the last two flying carpets as they hover above the track. The high-pitched whine of engines soon cuts through the air. Two familiar contraptions buzz into view, piloted by the bickering duo, Twitch and Vinegar.

Twitch: "Hey Vinegar! We've got two carpets for the price of one!"

Shantae: (Her expression sharpens, eyes locked on the path ahead) "Green flag! Don't let them get ahead of us now—let’s move!"

Taver: (Stepping forward, hands on his hips) "You know, it's pretty sad. Everyone forgets you because you're always acting like such a brat. Maybe if you actually tried to find some friends—like she has—you wouldn't be so desperate for attention. It's not too late to start over, you know."

Holly: (Her face twists into a scowl of pure indignation) "Well, bzzzz!! Wrong-O! I don't need friends. I have something much better. And he's a much bigger friend than your annoying, pint-sized companion will ever have!"

Holly calls out towards the hole in the ring.

Holly: (Her eye twitches as she stomps her foot in the air) "You’re getting it all wrong! And on purpose! Don't you know that you brats are facing the one and only Holly Lingerbean?!"

Techno Baron: "Silence, you pests! You wouldn't understand the genius of my vision! Do you know why I need to transform these maidens into mermaids? It’s not for world domination—that's so last season! It’s for my new ‘Sub-Aquatic High-Speed Internet Router’ project! Mermaids provide the perfect bio-data signal, and I’m tired of my connection buffering during my online strategy games!"

Taver: (Blinking in confusion) "You're kidnapping people... for better Wi-Fi?"

Techno Baron: (Scoffs) "Use whatever gadgets you've got, but my technology is way too advanced for a small fry like you. Enjoy your new aquarium!"

Shantae is a little startled by this but nonetheless kindly lets him join her on a special adventure though all the stages she went through in the main adventure of the game. Shantae is his mentor and they explore through those stages and fight the same enemies and bosses. Shantae humorously wonders why the same bosses show up every time she visits those areas in a different campaign. Taver quickly sees Shantae as a "cool big sis" as they get into some humorous trouble.
