Hiya! I'm looking to read more classics over the summer once I've finished all my uni work, but I've had a mixed experience with them before.
I usually read cringey YA/new adult romances, but I'm trying to make my reads more sophisticated. I know a lot of people suggest Austen for the romance genre and I definitely want to read some of her books but it doesn't seem like a great starting point for someone a bit daunted by them. I'm interested in reading Dracula since I find vampire lore interesting but it is slightly daunting too.
Classics I've read and enjoyed: Carmilla, the Oz books, The Wind in the Willows, Granny's Wonderful Chair, I Capture the Castle, A Wrinkle in Time, An Inspector Calls (I know it's a play but I loved it)
Classics I read years ago and felt meh about and want to reread: The Secret Garden, Little Women, Heidi, The Jungle Book
Classics I've read and didn't like: The From the Earth to the Moon duology, The Princess and the Goblin, The Nutcracker
Ones on my TBR that seem realistic: Rebecca, The rest of the Time Quintet, We've Always Lived in the Castle
Any other good suggestions out there for things that aren't super long or flowery?
