Auto industry?? Advice 23 F

I am a 23 y/o F

For the past 2 years I’ve been into working on my own car, not even because I’m into cars but actually fixing them and feeling accomplished even when it stressed me out I loved it so much.

I had a 1992 Mazda Miata. I tore the engine apart to fix a gasket, suspension, all of it. With NO experience and it came out great. I didn’t have anyone to teach me no family or friends unfortunately but I seemeddd natural at it. Just YouTube and Rockauto.com/ebay

I know blue collar work you will get bullied, especially being a woman I don’t rllyyy care about that. I’ve dealt with it before.

I keep seeing everyone HATINGGGG their job as a mechanic, “if you love cars don’t be a mechanic” however…I don’t reallyyy love cars I just like fixing them I guess??? I’m only just now learning the names of cars and special etc etc etc whatever. I didn’t start working on my car to make it fast…just to make it whole again and it was so satisfying.

I’ve never felt a calling for a career before this so I am extremely worried about hating it due to other people’s opinions getting to my head.

If anyone has advice or their positive experience please please please lmk

(Ideally want to get into Body work, painting, diesel possibly or vintage car work if anyone has suggestions on that) Or just general repair possibly I shall see…

Should I go into the auto Industry?? 23 y/o F

I am a 23 y/o F

(Edited)

For the past 2 years I’ve been into working on my own car, (like how most ppl get into this kinda field) fixing cars has been the best feeling I’ve ever had. Not because I made it fast or loud but because I picture the car as a giant puzzle and it gave me the biggest feeling of accomplishment ever. (Says literally everyone)

I keep seeing everyone HATINGGGG their job as a mechanic, “if you love cars don’t be a mechanic” however…I will go to school for it regardless at this time either as a side job or main so any advice on what to focus on specifically to have a better change would be great :)

When they say this do they mean JUST being a mechanic specifically or the entire industry itself??? Cause if being a MECHANIC sucks is there any other paths I can also take that are similar but still in the auto field? Does that make sense? (Example: Body work, owning a business, diesel trucks, big machinery etc etc)

I didn’t start working on my car to make it fast…just to make it whole again and it was so satisfying. Which I’ve heard is how most people get into it. I don’t consider it a hobby but something I had to do to survive with barely any money….then conveniently loved it.

I’ve never felt a calling for a career before this so I am extremely worried about hating it due to other people’s opinions getting to my head.

If anyone has advice or their positive experience please please please comment

(Ideally want to get into Body work, painting, diesel possibly or vintage car work if anyone has suggestions on that) Or just general repair possibly I shall see…Running my own business would be cool. I’m not here to make big money I just want to stop job hoping and actually stick to something.

(EDIT)

I do not care about pay honestly, I job hop, I only made $2k last year…..

I keep trying to do “ comfy” princess jobs, front desk, restaurant, medical coding even and insurance remotely. Nice money…but wanted to blow my head off and would just quit🤣

If anyone has better suggestions I would also love to hear, Unique situations/jobs etc I am willing to bust my azz to get there.
