hair loss

I used to have REALLY long and thick hair as a kid. As I got older and after puberty, my hair texture changed (became very curly) , got darker, and became way thinner (it became noticeably thinner years after puberty tho) . I also used to cut it short a lot for no reason when I was younger 😭 I also used to not wear a cap while going to the pool when I was younger and since we had a private pool and as soon as the cleaners would clean the pool and put chlorine i would literally take a dip an Hour after it. w no cap or protection or nothing.

Now my ponytail is noticeably thinner than it used to be and I’ve been shedding more hair over the years. I straighten my hair basically every week and sometimes keep it straightened for like 2 weeks at a time, so I know that probably damaged it too.

The thing is, I don’t have bald patches or anything. My hair still grows, and I have a lot of baby hairs/small hairs, it just doesn’t feel as dense or thick as before. I also get scalp itching/flaking sometimes.

Another thing is my periods are pretty heavy and long sometimes, so I’m wondering if low iron could also be making the shedding worse.

Has anyone managed to regain thickness after years of thinning from heat damage/stress/possible deficiencies? Did fixing iron/protein intake actually help?
