For context I'm newly 21 with my birthday in January and I shop in Arizona. I signed up for the Alcohol deliveries on Instacart a couple weeks ago since I was now of age to purchase it. I've already done multiple orders including alcohol and had no issues, but I went to check out today and the cashier, (who was already being unkind about the fact that I had multiple orders and such) told me that she couldn't accept my ID because it was a vertical print and I had not updated it to the horizontal at the MVD. At the time I didn't fight her since she was already being rude to me, but this was shocking to me because Instacart was pretty clear that the store MAY check for shoppers IDs but the main factor for the sale is the customers age verification on the app which she didn't even look at. I understand that the Instacart contract requires a valid ID for purchasing alcohol, and I found out later that there is only a 30 day grace period for having a vertical ID and being over 21, so I guess she was technically correct. But 1) I'm not the customer BUYING the alcohol and 2) I AM over 21 so I don't really understand the issue. Has anyone had a similar experience or could correct me if I have something wrong? Thanks!
