"Oh, you don't like X thing? That means you're MAGA" is what I mean.

I was called right wing because I said the Boomers in New Vegas aren't based on baby boomers. Citing how the game came out in 2010, years before boomer culture was criticized as it is, and how most comparisons are surface level. I was met with fans telling me I was wrong cuz "boomers = boomers" and told "New Vegas is political and...fairly left leaning. Does that bother you?". Sure, they never said it verbatim, but tell me that isn't implying I'm right wing.

I've had friends call me MAGA because I don't care for Taylor Swift's music. Because since Trump doesn't like her, and I don't, that connection is there.

Hell, I've been called a trump supporter solely for saying the FDA says aspartame (the sweetener used in diet coke) is safe to consume. I can see a vague connection there, but even then, citing the FDA isn't an endorsement of the current government.

I get it, you want to out the bad guys (yes, MAGA are the bad guys, don't believe otherwise). But some try way too hard and believe everything is some dog whistle. Hell even now I know someone is going to argue I have to be MAGA because "everyone else seems to say you are, hmmmm." And using the fact I get defensive as proof, because apparently I shouldn't be offended I'm being called a Nazi....

Edit: I know the right does it too. I just don't care what they think of me as much. This wasn't a "liberals bad" post, sorry if it gave that impression.

"No she doesn't" that's a lie. Josh Hutcherson is currently being canceled and demeaned all over solely because he said he wasn't a swiftie and doesn't care about her music. Many calling him a sexist because of it.

Even my own sister, who's incredibly liberal and claims to be body positive, has insulted him by calling him a short man. Which, yeah he is, but saying that as an insult while claiming to be body positive is really telling about her true feelings.

Say you dislike Cardi B, people assume you mean her music first. Say you dislike Taylor Swift, people make the assumption you dislike all women in music. I've said I don't listen to her music and have been called a wife beater for it. Why, because disliking her means I don't believe women belong in music... apparently. Yet if I called anyone who doesn't listen to GloRilla a racist people would look at me like I'm crazy. What's the difference in logic?

Remember when Ginny & Georgia made a dumb 2010's joke of "been with more men than Taylor Swift" and Taylor attacked them and her fans bombarded Antonia Gentry with racist attacks over it? And Taylor said nothing, while claiming "women who don't support women go to hell"? That's something to this day I've seen very liberal women defend Taylor for, while attacking other celebrities for not controlling their fans.

But hey, after all that you will all see me as sexist and hating women right? That's the point I'm making, we've decided a billionaire white woman who's raised in privilege is somehow a representative of all women....

Edit: sorry guys, guess I should just kill myself. I criticized a fanbase that's mostly women so I'm no better than Harvey Weinstein or Jeffrey Epstein.
