Pedal made no noise, started smoking, and had only static when turning pots

So I tried making this simple pedal build and it decided it wanted to not make any noise, and when I turned the pots there was just static, then it started smoking on the top connection of the tone pot on this schematic. Any thoughts on what could cause this or advice? Thanks!

Simple pedal question

This is a pedal I am working on building right now, I’m just confused a bit on the power aspect of it. There are two sections that have +9V would that be where the two leads of a 9V battery go, or would that be two different 9V loads? I would think if it was both sides of a battery one would say + and one would say - . Anyway thank you for the help in advance, and any other advice for this you have please let me know!

I noticed this app was installed on my fire tv. It didn’t have any options to look at any info on it, and I couldn’t open it. I just uninstalled, but now I’m worried it is malware or something like that. My device isn’t jailbroken or anything like that. I just have an insignia fire tv. Any help?

I am currently finishing up a build of the gyraf calrec EQ, and the only thing I am really lost on right now is the power supply. I am fairly new to the DIY audio world and power is the one thing that I am really worried to mess up. It calls for a 2x18V 2x100mA power supply. Would the attached photos work for this? I am aware it’s not exactly the conventional way to go about it, but with the built in protections from shorting and such and the cooling, it seems like it could work well to mitigate some concerns I have with connecting and integrating it incorrectly. Thank you for the help!
