PS5 not recognizing WD_BLACK SN850P NVMe SSD after proper installation
Hi everyone,
I recently installed a WD_BLACK SN850P NVMe SSD (1TB with heatsink) into my PS5, but the console is not recognizing it at all.
I carefully followed the installation instructions step by step:
Powered off and unplugged the PS5 completely
Installed the SSD securely into the M.2 slot
Made sure the heatsink was attached properly
Reassembled everything correctly
Turned the PS5 back on
However, the PS5 does not prompt me to format the drive, and the storage expansion does not appear in settings.
Things I’ve already checked/tried:
Re-seated the SSD multiple times
Confirmed the connector is aligned correctly
Made sure the screw/spacer are installed properly
Updated PS5 system software
Restarted and power cycled the console
Has anyone experienced this issue with the SN850P or another M.2 SSD? Any suggestions on what else I should try before assuming the drive may be defective?
