Tony Gwynn Mother's Cookies Cards

1994-96 Mother's Cookies Tony Gwynn. Current baseball cards have innovative designs, vibrant colors and sophisticated printing techniques that make them very beautiful and collectable.

We often think of old Topps cards as the baseline for simple cards of the past but I would like to point out the simplicity of Mother's Cookies cards.

These cards are border less with close up photos of the play posing, no action photos. Simple graphics give the player's name and team name. The back has a simple bio, position played and a short sentence about how the player was acquired. There is even a line for the player's autograph.

Player cards were in 28 card team sets instead of 792 cards sets and given away at games with multiples of the same player in a single pack/envelope to force fans to trade between themselves to complete the 28 card set.

These seem like the "Craigslist" version of a baseball card but I love the simplicity of them.
