Help me understand what just happened here

So I’m in the middle of a game, the opponent has a clefable and sableye and clearly has the intent to just hit the timer. I’m running a mono rock team so as you can imagine its not greatly suited to end a stall team, he basically cycled between rest, protect, heal burst on the clefable and will o wisp, protect, disable on the sableye

No shame to them, i really dont care, but why did the game abruptly end before the timer and tell me i lost? I had the 3 minutes remaining pop up and then all of a sudden it said I lost even though I had 2 pokemon left to his 4. I was almost certain this ends in a draw.

Does the game give the win to whoever has more pokemon left at timeout?
