If someone is on a spouse visa on behalf of an Irish person living in the UK, my understanding is that the person has to wait an extra year to apply for British nationality after ILR because the spouse is not British. Is this correct?

And if the Irish spouse gets British nationality before the person on the spouse visa applies for ILR and British citizenship(ideally after FLRM extension), does that mean it reduces that one-year wait to an instant British citizenship application after ILR?

Guidance would be very much appreciated.
