I work in the deli and do more than my fair share of work. Most associates in my department aren't great at their job, and one of them told me it's on purpose so they don't have to work too hard. In their words it's because "someone else will do it later.". A lot of the time that someone is me. A random assortment of tasks will fall behind until I do them. Some of them are frequent, such as doing the MTOs for ODP, so they're done on the fly.
This morning while I was filling the chub case, yet another thing left behind (I'm off on the two previous days) ODP came for an order not yet made. As I was slicing the order the entire slicer fell forward, and my fingers were ON THE MOVING BLADE OF THE SLICER. Thankfully I wasn't injured at all and my fingers weren't close to the cutting edge of the blade. However, I'm just straight up pissed at this point. I keep telling management (and have been for years) that other associates aren't paying attention. Today it almost cost me the total loss of the functionality of my entire left hand. I never thought that after 10 years I would have to worry about whether or not that level of negligence would apply to one of the most dangerous pieces of equipment in my department.
