DNF "A Dark and Drowning Tide"

I'm about 30% through this book and don't think I can bring myself to finish, especially after reading the reviews on here. I'm glad a lot of other people here agree that Lorelai is a fairly weak MC. She's angry, cruel, and selfish without reason. Yes she's a part of an oppressed people but she doesn't even care enough about her people or the system that oppresses them because apparently she just works within the system at the end, resolving to only help herself??

I feel like this story would've been a lot stronger if we followed Sylvia Von Wolff's pov. Seeing flashbacks of her time with the Ruh-whatever 5 would've been more interesting than hearing about another folk tale.

March: Book 1

Anyone read that "March" comic book series by John Lewis? I just finished it.

All that blood and violence of the civil rights movement... all that passion... all for the Voting Rights Act to get passed. The same one they're threatening to overturn.

My heart broke when I saw it end on that note. I'm glad John Lewis is not around to see the day.

If you haven't read it already. There's no better time than right now. You can find it for free on Scribd

EDIT: thank you for all of the comments. He saw my last apology text but didn't respond. I'm going to take your advice and text him again, explaining my anxiett and apologizing again. I hope you're right and this is a smaller deal than i am making it

This person, A, and i don't talk much but i go to a few events he throws at his house. I usually bring someone because a) i have bad social anxiety and b) he asked me to (i think us interacting with each other got to be too awkward).

A invited me out of the blue to this album release party. He was texting me more than usual, so ngl i got excited and decided to go without bringing anyone. I figured i wouldn't be talking to A a lot since we never talk and he usually brings other people to entertain himself with. I smoked a joint and went in, ready to just listen to the music alone.

When I got there, he was talking with these 2 other friends he brought. They didn't wave me over but it felt i was supposed to say more than just "hi." It suddenly felt like i was crashing a party and the venue was too small for me to hide somewhere. His friends were super nice the whole time, they even showed me this line dance. But after one song, i felt so nervous and weird. I told my friend i was getting water then i told his friend goodbye and left. I came home to these texts.

I thought it was NBD but his response is making me think i really fucked up. AIO for thinking that or did i actually do serious damage to this friendship?
