Bought a car online 42 days ago from dealership, no paperwork. Lawyer time?

As the title says, got in contact with a dealership online because the price for the car I wanted was golden. Getting all the paperwork together took about 3 weeks going back and forth between the dealership and my bank for an out-of-state deal. The dealership lost the bank's check for two days after someone in the Finance office signed for it and just didn't tell anyone?

Anyways, car got paid for on March 31st, temporary tag made and dated for April 1st. All paperwork signed and mailed back. (I realize at this point I should have made my own copies but the dealership was very adamant about having the ORIGINALS and I don't have a copier, my fuck up, roast me for it.)

Car didn't get delivered to me until April 19th, at 2 AM on the side of the road. As of today, I still haven't received a copy of any paperwork and neither has my local tax office. I've been constantly trying to call the dealership, but I believe they may have blacklisted my number because I can never get anyone on the phone unless I call in and try to talk to sales. The only time I got an answer was last Monday and they claim they outsource the paperwork for dealing with that to another company.

I can't register my car. It's been 42 days since they have received payment and I have no paperwork to show for it. Soon I'll be hit with fines and penalties for not registering my car in a timely manner in my home state. I filed a complaint with their local DMV and also their AG. I guess my next step is legal action. Have ya'll ever had a dealership THIS incompetent?
