Cafe Sabarsky lunch today... closing for the summer soon!

Say, Sabarsky gets a lot of love, but it's not enough. But note: it's going to be closed for the summer after May 25! So if you were planning to go soon, sooner would be better... re-opening in the autumn some time. Cafe, museum, both closing for the summer.

Sorry, I have no photos. My phone doesn't do that. But the food was beautiful. It was lovely. You'll just have to take my word for it.

I had the goulash plate (they have a half price goulash soup too), ice tea, a latte, and a slice of their kirschtorte. MAN OH MAN. If I could eat there every week I'd be a happy man. The portion was large, the meat was tender -- what the heck did they give me a knife for anyway -- and the flavor was just perfect. It was just what you want in a goulash. How did they know? Who knows.

And the waitress! The waitress was attentive. She came back like TWICE to see how I was doing. I thought that was another culture and another time. I'm still burned because the waitering at Miriam (UWS) was so lackadaisical. Waiters used to want you to be happy. Not at Miriam. Well, they got upset when I left a small tip. They cared that much.

But this one spoke with a foreign accent, so... probably not quite acclimatized to how we do things in the US yet. Thank god!

Yeah, it was great. Go there. Enjoy.

I need something with an FMC or F near-MC like Beatrice

I've been reading Much Ado About Nothing, and it seems to me I can't remember a single, single, single other FMC anything like Beatrice.

Now this must be a simple failure of my education, or maybe my memory has gone Alzy. There must be similar, outgoing, talkative, excessively witty young ladies out there in literature, whose inventiveness is endless, whose speech is like a faucet, and who seem almost unable to turn it off even if they wanted to, which of course they don't because why would they? We don't want them to. We like them the way they are. Who needs the Girl from Ipanema if you've got Beatrice in the room, right?

But as I say, I can't think of any others. Who am I forgetting?

I mean: he has started an unprovoked war, and slaughtered schoolchildren.

He has committed mass murder, off the coast of Venezuela.

There's very little doubt he's a serial child predator.

There's not much less doubt he's a Russian agent.

Isn't it time to start coming up with, and practicing, explanations of how he got away with all this, in a democracy? Which this certainly still is.

Because we certainly, very clearly, have options.

We could start a constitutional amendment going around, to consign him and his whole cabinet (and Susie Wiles, Stephen Bannon, and Steven Miller) all to CECOT for the rest of their natural lives. This would make clear that we knew he was a madman and tried to respond appropriately. I think the only objection could be: he was elected, and it would piss off those who elected him. I think it's time to take our medicine on that. So they do it to us later: that's the medicine. We need the cure. Let's just do it.

Or. We could start a constitutional amendment going around, to denaturalize and deport all so called Americans who applied to work at ICE after election day, 2024. Again, the objection would be: they're gonna get back in power, and they'll do it to us. I think it's time. We need the cure. Let's resolve now not to oppose whatever they come up with too strongly, and just do it. We don't have to have a civil war over it; we just need to say to ourselves, we knew they were going to object, here it is, it's gotta be done.

Or. We could start a constitutional amendment going around to apply the minimum federal penalty for mass murder to everyone in the chain of command on those Venezuelan strikes and that Iranian girls' school. Here the penalty is a little more fraught, because it's going to fuck up our relationship with the military. Guess what: that is actually where we're at right now. It's time. We can deal with a fucked up relationship with our military. The mad person has to be stopped. We need the cure: let's just resolve to take the medicine, whatever it is, when it arrives. And it will have this bonus, which is why this is my favorite: it will show the world that we know how to make mass murder actually illegal. That we have the capacity and the technology and the knowledge of right and wrong, that that would take.

Please?
