Cafe Sabarsky lunch today... closing for the summer soon!
Say, Sabarsky gets a lot of love, but it's not enough. But note: it's going to be closed for the summer after May 25! So if you were planning to go soon, sooner would be better... re-opening in the autumn some time. Cafe, museum, both closing for the summer.
Sorry, I have no photos. My phone doesn't do that. But the food was beautiful. It was lovely. You'll just have to take my word for it.
I had the goulash plate (they have a half price goulash soup too), ice tea, a latte, and a slice of their kirschtorte. MAN OH MAN. If I could eat there every week I'd be a happy man. The portion was large, the meat was tender -- what the heck did they give me a knife for anyway -- and the flavor was just perfect. It was just what you want in a goulash. How did they know? Who knows.
And the waitress! The waitress was attentive. She came back like TWICE to see how I was doing. I thought that was another culture and another time. I'm still burned because the waitering at Miriam (UWS) was so lackadaisical. Waiters used to want you to be happy. Not at Miriam. Well, they got upset when I left a small tip. They cared that much.
But this one spoke with a foreign accent, so... probably not quite acclimatized to how we do things in the US yet. Thank god!
Yeah, it was great. Go there. Enjoy.
