What are your ADD experiences

I 20F am scared of self-diagnosing. So I want to read others experiences I am not looking for a diagnosis but I am seeking to understand others and my experiences especially since it’s diff for everyone

My experiences:

• I Struggle with spelling & pronunciation, despite English being my first language.I have also faced issues with French, Hindi, and Maths during school years.

• I am horrible at understanding verbal instructions. I need structured reminders and plans to ensure completion of university-related tasks.

• If I read something I always find new things cuz my brain skipped over it. Irl if someone is talking to me even if I am paying attention it sometimes is like i never heard them.

• I can’t remember but in grade 4 I was part of some special group but they let me go

• I can easily forget things I am asked to do multiple things or just one task i get distracted. I have list of daily tasks for uni stuff but since I have no list for my perosnal life my inability to remember is really obvious. i can not balance things. I am currently hyper focused on creating a good path for my career (doing clubs, academics etc)

• I also forget my thoughts when waiting for others to finish speaking or just in general.

• I have a history of daydreaming. My every report card said it. Also I daydreaming daily which causes a lot of delay in my tasks, my daydreaming is a manifestation of all my Desiree’s and trauma . In my mind i have a Husband and am always thinking of our life and changing plots based on my moods.

• I also forget memories my family and freinds have sometimes spoken about exp which I don’t ever recall.

• I have random occasional urges to make random noises.

• My mom thinks I have ADHD, and both mom & elder brother have dyslexia

• i forget people exist, it’s like if I don’t see them or am not reminded of them I forget they exist but I do miss them when I remember.

I am currently preparing to create my about me post and wanted to ask as a reader and a general audience what would you like to learn about a book insta page that pops up on ur feed or a one that u follow?

My page for reference: https://www.instagram.com/pages.between.life?igsh=M29mYWF5eHF1dzQ5&utm\_source=qr

Also do you suggest i make it as a post or a story that is there in a highlight? I am thinking of a story format so that I can always have it at the top without having to worry if I have to many posts i have to pin. Maybe I can do both?

So I recently created a book Instagram account and wanted to start uploading reels spefically where I want to talk in my reels without showing my face or body. One way if to ofc show the book and talk. But the problem is i read more ebooks. I don’t know what to present to the audience to look at, as I speak.

I am also a perfectionist (I really can’t help it) so I am very particular on sticking to my color themes. I chose natural colors so I can sustain them for longer periods but it also adds pressure to myself for reels. Can someone advise how I can achieve my goals? I know it would be advisable to be more lenient but I don’t think I can really control it. If I don’t like how it visually looks and if doesn’t make sense in my brain I am very bothered and restless

I recently created a bookstagram account where I post aesthetic pictures, random book reviews, and anything book-related whenever I have free time. Last time, I received really kind and helpful feedback about my page, so I wanted to ask everyone again about their learning curves so we can all benefit from each other’s experiences.

For example, last time I was advised to:
• add more personality to my bio
• share more reels and post consistently
• follow and engage with other creators and readers
• share more about myself
• change my profile picture to something more bookish

With my final deadlines approaching, I wasn’t able to follow through on everything just yet. However, I’m hoping to apply all of these tips during my summer break. The advice has already helped a lot, I’ve been able to improve my page and learn more about the community.

My page now : [https://www.instagram.com/pages.between.life?igsh=M29mYWF5eHF1dzQ5&utm\\\_source=qr\](https://www.instagram.com/pages.between.life?igsh=M29mYWF5eHF1dzQ5&utm\_source=qr)
(I am waiting to create a perfect pfp and finalize what i want to share about myself. FYI : I’m perfectionist so it makes things hard to post. If things don’t look good as per me and dont make sense I keep deleting stuff)

I think I have ADD due to several experience and a family history of having dyslexia in my immediate family. My mom believes i have ADHD.

I want to become a Professor, at the moment I am doing my undergraduate and I have masked (unconsciously) by creating systems for myself (task list, calendar excel sheets, etc.)

If I get an official diagnosis later on (cant at the moment) will it show up on any of my official or any documents? Will it affect MA admissions or job opportunities.

I also do think the extent of ADD would play a role maybe?

Quick bullet points of what I experience if it helps :

• Ongoing academic difficulties (spelling); learns best with structured, formatted notes and planning
• Struggles with attention, forgetfulness, multitasking, and understanding verbal instructions or sarcasm
• Long history of frequent daydreaming and distraction during tasks
• Sensitive to noise and certain textures
• Difficulty with memory recall and has memory gaps (can be present in convo but not hear everything)
• Occasionally makes random vocalizations; prefers staying busy
• Finds balancing university and personal life challenging
• Can hyperfocus on interests

Hii! With my summer break approaching I would love to make progress in writing my book (just a few chapters in). The genres my book will cover are romance, fantasy, vampires, gothic, psychological.

Goals :

• Try to complete first book draft together in the span of one to two years.

Requirements :

• Should be a female writer, I’m not comfortable talking to guys.

• Should be 21 or above (I’m 21)

• Both partners need to be writing about the same genre (romance, fantasy, vampires, gothic, psychological). I am hoping this will help us research and learn together.

• Looking for only one person so I can realistically give my attention

• Having slow months due to other commitments is expected but the applicant needs to be determined to have long term publishing goals.

Meeting place : Emailing (Always wanted an emailing buddy, just a gurly dream)

Writing experience:

• Looking for partners with some writing experience, beginners included

Things about me as beginner writer :

- I’m horrible at spellings and grammar even though English is my first language. However, I think my writing is okay. I have been writing poetry since I’m 13. I have taken a creative writing course so I know a bit (very very tiny).

I do not know what else to share about myself, feel free to ask more questions and please share more about yourself in the commenrs below or dms.

A preview of my story for you to understand my writing style and content :

Humans have long believed vampires do not exist. Even when the truth is laid before them, they read it as mere myths. Scholars like Stanley Stepanic to John William Polidori have warned us through their existence. But men put themselves to sleep by lying about the truth, for their hearts are weak with fear and denial seems to be their only strength.

I have found courage to admit the truth, even if I were bought to this admission by finding myself married to one. I currently reside in his house. The name of the vampire who has decided to declare me as his wife is Count Dracula.

(Small preview since I do want to keep my story idea private)

I hope this is the correct Reddit community to ask.

I have taken up the task of creating an Edpuzzle for my class. I recorded the lecture first on my laptop and then added questions to it from Edpuzzle. The account i am using is a teacher account even though I am a student since I am doing this for a specific task. I did make the video public but my prof cant see it when he goes to my school > my profile. It says there is no content.

How can I share my content with the prof so he can assign it on Moodle. He can’t see my video

I have so much to learn and am very confused about what I may need for MA. I have tons of questions any sort of advice would be helpful!

The university options I am looking at :
• Waterloo

My mom is also looking :
• University of Toronto
• McMasters

But I am now very keen on it since they don’t have with thesis. My goal is to become a Proffesor so I have plans of doing my PHD.

For context, I’m currently doing my third year of BA in English in an American institution in the Middle East.

The courses I have taken so far/ completing :

ENGL 101 - Critical Reading and Writing
ENGL 102 - Writing & Information Literacy
ENGL 200 - Intro to Literary Studies
ENGL 207 - Int to Rhetorical Std
ENGL 220 - Survey of World Literature
ENGL 221 - Survey of world literature
ENGL 300 - History of English language
ENGL 301- Literature and Film
ENGL 307 - Shakespeare
ENGL 308 - Early American Literature
ENGL 311 - English Novel
ENGL 314 - Modernism / postmodernism
ENGL 315 - 20th Century American Lit.
ENGL 345 - Creative writing
ENGL 375 - Rhetorics of Cult Dissonance
ENGL 389 - Introduction to TESOL
ENGL 389 - Arab Anglophone Lit
ENGL 401 - Seminar on American Authors
ENGL 405 - Seminar on Postcolonial Lit.
ENGL 415 - Literary theory & criticism
ENGL 450 - Senior Seminar

The courses I will take next sem :
ENGL 302 - Medieval Literature (500-1500)
ENGL 389 - Comparative Literature (Mythology)

What I like / interested in :
Era : 19th and 20th century
Location : American and British
Movements : Romanticism, Gothic, Modernism, Post Modernism, Victorian
Theories : Gender Studies (only familiar with Feminism) Postcolonial, Gastro Criticism (never studied but will look into this summer)

I would like to specialize in Gender studies while doing a MA in English.

Questions :

  1. Let me ask the most basic question, how does a MA work?
  2. Is a thesis MA required for PhD admission, or just preferred? What the advantages and disadvantages.
  3. What are your recommendations of university in Canada for MA English with thesis
  4. Do I need to be familiar with Canadian literature? If so, is there anything I should focus on?

I did find a doc online so I’ll start with that.

  1. What books and theories would you recommend I read for Gender studies? I think I would like to specialize in this since it would also later on allow me to look at other things I’m interested in (POCO and Gastro criticism)
  2. Silly question, but I want to teach in an American institution (I know I need a PHD but apart from that) would it be hard to get a job in an American school and later on university if I have my MA from Canda. All my professors hold MA from America so I am wondering if universities have preferences?

Please feel free to give any advice you think would help me.

I’m currently doing my undergrad in BA English in the Middle East and am in my third year. In my university, we don’t strictly follow the canon, we have covered the famous ones and I too have ventured out to read some in my free time. I wish to pursue my MA in English, what books do you recommend I should read? With summer coming up I’d love to lock in.

Update :

I apologize my question was very general to be more specific I’m adding adding my other post text here too

I was gifted the Kiko winter set which had two mini lipsticks and two lip glosses. I’m in love with this. It’s red and when tabbed a bit, it is a mix of red and pink. Can someone pls help me find a similar shade since i think it was a holiday limited color. I was looking into MAC since I like them, do you have any suggestions?
