Should I pass the resedency to be a psychiatrist or switch to psychology

Hi, graduated medical doctor here. Through my studying, I discovered my interest was not in medicine but about brain functioning and psychology. I found myself talking with people about their mental health more than taking care of their medical case.

I like philosophy, anthropology, and literature. I like to go deeply into the human mind and discover the reasons for trauma and behavior; it just fascinates me to do long, deep conversations with people and learn about how different brains function. At the same time, I’m against prescribing medicine directly before doing psychotherapy.

So, I’m now confused: should I add a Master’s in Clinical Psychology? Or pass the exam and follow the residency path and be a psychiatrist? Which road is the closest to my interest? How is the day of a psychiatrist? Is it listening and psychotherapy, or is it more like finding the diagnosis and prescribing medication?

Is it good to know you have autism or no?

My brother 19 years, struggled in his life alot, he didn't talk until 5 and he was talking defrent language ( Arabic fosha) bcz he watch tv ( all the time) he didn't socialise, he was playing alone, laughing alone, writing by his hands in the air, ect, they bullied him in school, as he behave and talk defrent, still he do but he learned to adapt us, and he is talking like us now, he study in university now, he watch anime all the time and play video games, he call him self stupid, and weird and he lost his self confidence, and he is suffering now from depression, he told me it's just too much pressure on me to be like they want, so i talked with him i said, stop putting pressure on yourself, your brain is defrent, and search about, autism spectrum, u may be identified with them? Now i called him again, to ask about how he feel about it, he said i didn't start thinking about it? I don't know is it good to know? Should i not tell him?
