Hi, I'm reluctant to start investing properly, such as trading my own funds, how can someone know what to buy and invest in?

I heard that there is a way to check, but everywhere I look, people seem to give either a scam or unsuitable advice that would be good for rich people with disposable income only. I can't really afford to gamble.
