Hello, I’ve been working on these deer skulls since last fall. Used the maceration method in a bucket of water with an aquarium heater. Changed the water about once a week and it took about 4 months for pretty much all the flesh to be gone. Then I moved on to the degreasing stage. It’s been 8 weeks using a bucket with dawn dish soap, and this last week ammonia as well. Pretty sure there’s no more grease left in the bone itself, the water stays mostly clear and there’s so more plumes of grease floating on top. However, when inspecting the skull, there’s still pockets that contain a white gooey substance. The pockets in the gum lines are the main spots, and there was a decent amount stuck behind the ear buds as well. I’ve since popped the earbuds out and scraped out as much as I could. The gum bones are very soft and I accidentally split them as seen in the video. The cavity is full of this substance. Any idea what this could be or what to do? Thanks in advance.
