I’m moving back to England this summer after ~20 years in the US and trying to get up to speed on the UK EV market.
For context, I’ve been driving a Rivian (US-only electric truck/SUV brand – not sold in the UK yet) for the past 3 years, so I’m used to a fairly premium EV experience.
Looking for recommendations for a used EV up to ~£30k, ideally:
- Not Tesla (just personal preference)
- Good real-world range
- Comfortable for longer drives (I do a fair bit of motorway miles)
- Decent reliability / not a nightmare to own out of warranty
A couple of extra wrinkles:
- I won’t have any UK no-claims bonus since 2005 – has anyone been through this recently and how bad was insurance?
- Are there any models that are particularly good/bad value on the used market right now?
Would really appreciate any advice, especially from people who’ve made a similar switch or are running used EVs in this price range.
Also open to “avoid at all costs” warnings.
