Mother’s Day card

This is what I gave my mom for Mother’s Day. She has a dark sense of humor, so she loved it. 😂

I’m trying to make sticker sheets so I followed a tutorial or ten on YouTube to make sure I’m getting kiss cut right. No matter what I try it’s not working. Despite following their instructions. But in the process of trying, I keep cutting in about the same spot.

Most of the tutorials say that for sticker sheets, it’s best to trick Cricut Design Space by stacking a bunch of backgrounds on top of each other so it only cuts through the top layer (stickers) once and the background however many layers you set it to. Well I’ve been setting it to 5-8 layers, which is 5-8 cuts times the 6 sticker sheets I’ve attempted.

And now my mat is starting to ruin and cut through itself. Understandable, since I’m cutting the same spot over and over.

You might also faintly see the outline of another die cut I cut out. That one was only one time, but the indent from the cut is still visible.

I am using the standard kiss cut and die cut settings that DS gives. But I have used less pressure on the last few attempts in order to help it along. Now I’m afraid to try again until I get another mat!

Is there a better method I’m not thinking of? Are there self healing mats specifically for print then cut so I can cut more than just a few dozen times before having to buy another mat? Can I use 3rd party mats or do I have to use Cricut mats?

Please, any help is appreciated!! Thank you 🙏

I bought a Cricut because I’m into crafts and wanted to start making shirts. But this is the idea I’ve had for a tshirt in my head for a long time. So it was the first thing I made with my new Cricut Explore 5! The Latin says “This sentence is in Latin”.

I get that some people have munchausen’s and hypochondria. But it’s so funny to me that it’s such a problem they needed to print a sign 😂
