Is breaking into the legal industry hard?
I’m thinking of switching careers from media to legal work as my industry is tanking and legal work seems more stable.
Am I wrong? Is there a way to break in without becoming or needing to become a lawyer?

I find getting in the door with staffing agency recruiters and setting up initial interviews with them easy and painless, but afterwards they ghost me.
I am only looking for a temp office management role with 10+ years of experience in corporate. I’m flex on rate and I feel like it should be easy to place me?
Laid off in January from my long term corporate job and have been struggling to find any meaningful employment since then.
I have never been more humbled and scared than this period of my life and don’t know where to turn to next.
I am open to any opportunity - Admin assistant, etc.
Is anyone else in this boat? How are you dealing with this?
Was it worth it and why?
I went in for a final interview and had the hiring manager present in-office and an SVP remote. Hiring manager, recruiter, and future colleagues are fantastic.
SVP in the middle of the interview sends a slack that goes up on a TV that I’m presenting on and it says “I don’t think (my name) is the right fit” and proceeds to go off camera and stop meaningfully contributing to the conversation.
Hiring manager quickly shuts down the slack and continues the interview. We wrap it up professionally.
What do you think of the SVP’s behavior?
I was laid off at the end of March and have been racing to get a job since. I’m in two final rounds and most recently this happened:
I am in the running for a middle management role and I had the fourth and final in-person yesterday. Up until yesterday, the recruiter and all the other team members I met including the hiring manager have been amazing and the recruiter specifically has given me prep calls and has been moving me quickly. They were teeing me up as the hire and I really wanted to work for them too.
I thought I had it in the bag and I re-met with the hiring manager in person and a SVP type person who was virtual for the call.
The interview is going super well and then I saw a virtual interviewer’s (dept head) slack on the tv I was presenting on and it said, “I don’t think (my name) is the right fit” pop up. Then she proceeded to not really engage in any further question asking. The recruiter said ahead of time that she was not warm and fuzzy.
I was pretty disheartened when I read it and the other interviewer (future direct boss) in the room quickly closed the slack and kept the interview going. I regained my composure and finished the interview well; asking good questions to the hiring manager.
The hiring manager said that they are interviewing other candidates, but that the recruiter will get back to me and they might ask me to meet one more person who I already had a call with and liked me in-person.
I left with as much confidence and gratitude as I could, but it completely shook my confidence in getting the job. I still want to work there, the rest of the team was fantastic but now I think my chances may be shot with this comment. Thoughts?
This whole job hunt has been stressful. Any advice to get through this?
