The most recent M1 exam was extremely frustrating to complete and very badly designed. I had done every single pass paper from 2018 to January 2026 and there were questions on the exam that were nothing like what I had seen instead of a test on M1 mechanics it was more of a problem-solving test and a test of general IQ Which is mostly genetic so naturally gifted people who find maths easy e.g. further maths people will have found that a breeze with limited revision however someone like me who has done over 30 past papers because I’ve done papers twice really struggled, I’m really upset at edexcel and they’ve let me down the least they could do is give us a paper that was at least slightly similar to previous exam papers. The wording was also horrendous, why even mention the balls velocity halfing every bounce. If we only need to calculate one bounce? I did this question three times and only on my third attempt did I realise I was doing it wrong because of the poor wording, they didn’t have to mention it halfing every bounce they could’ve just said The speed halfed after it bounces and find the time when the ball is greater than 4 m above the ground. That perpendicular question was bs, uncalled for and nothing like previous questions, we did not have the tools to complete it. I don’t care if the grade boundaries are low we deserve a test to show all the skills we learnt not figure out new ones.
