I’m a 16 yo sophomore in Highschool, and this is a little Highschool drama that I’ve recently gotten into, and I’m going crazy trying to figure out if I’m in the wrong.
So a little while back, I had this friend and we will just call him Spencer. Spencer and I were pretty close, we would chat it up all the time in class and would text after school. Though after some time, I started noticing him becoming really distant. He would only text me, but wouldn’t bother to talk to me in person. I’m a really talkative person and love one on one, so I took this to heart. I’ve never really had someone pull away so fast without any explanation, so I couldn’t help but notice when he was happily talking to this other girl (let’s call her Lia).
I have a friend Olivia, who knew her and out of nosiness I asked her to mention him to Lia. Immediately upon being asked Lia was asking if it was me who was wondering. Now me and Lia have never really talked, we’ve never had class together and she’s new to school this year so hearing from my friend that she had used my FULL NAME surprised me and so quickly at that. My friend said yes and just as quickly as she asked if it was me she asked if I had a crush on Spencer. I don’t see Spencer that way, I’ve just again, never had someone switch up so fast and was nosy as to what was going on. My friend explained that to Lia and she seemed almost unhappy like it was the wrong answer? After this my friend came to me with everything that happened. I had recently tried to follow Lia on instagram hoping we could find a friendship out of this but she never accepted my request so I just decided this conflict was over. That was until she started going around asking people about me.
She had gone to a different friend of mine asking about me. After mentioning me to my friend, she pulled up my insta and named every post my friend was in by memory and stated, almost sounding annoyed like, “why do so many people know her?”. After hearing this I was obviously a little weirded out and texted about it in a gc, asking my friends if I had accidentally started beef. Olivia had seen my text and without me knowing, tried to solve things with Lia by explaining how I felt. Lia then took Olivia’s phone and sent me a voice message of her explaining we don’t have beef, but in the background her friends that i don’t know were screaming about how they “didn’t fuck with me” and we did have beef. After all this, I was just super confused as to why this was being so dragged out and just wanted to ignore everything. I mean I thought I could, until Lia started coming up to me in person and asking about me and Spencer. She started saying things like “We don’t want you to think we feel that way” and “We aren’t mad” like I was a kid she was looking down on. She also stated that she was going to force Spencer to talk to me which I tried to explain to her didn’t feel natural but she cut me off saying that he HAD to talk to me. After that I ran into them a few times separately or together and he would very nervously say hi to me and that was all. I also noticed that Spencer stopped coming to the class we had together a lot more, but Lia would come stop by to talk to me and my friend even though she isn’t in the class. Sometimes it takes me a few extra minutes to make it to class so Lia will talk to my friend and apparently she was talking to my friend about me and referring to me as a nickname she made up and talking about how she was the “original” since we have a similar nickname. She also talked about how she was happy how I was at school but I hadn’t seen her once during the day (I have reason to believe there’s a friend of hers who has been watching me but that’s a theory so i won’t go into crazy detail abt that). So all of this has been happening for a little bit, i understand it’s been way blown out of proportion, but it’s because of me asking about her so i really want to know if I’m at fault for all this because it’s been worrying me the more all this drama adds up. I also want to know what you guys think might be going on since I’m super confused by all of this, so AITAH?
