Im a 19 year old guy going on a 'boys-trip' to Thailand this summer. We'll be going to Bangkok for a few days and to Phuket for a week. We've already booked flights and will soon book accommodation too, however, I only recently found out the legal drinking is 20 in Thailand. Im from northwestern Europe and (ignorantly) assumed the legal drinking age in Thailand would also be 18... Now, we actually went to Bali last year for our 'boys-trip' and found the legal drinking age of 21 not being enforced at any of the beach/nightclubs we went to (Finns, Atlas & Savaya amongst others) or maybe we just got lucky.. I dont know if Bangkok & Phuket will be similar to this though. What I read online, is that many if not all of the high-end clubs & (rooftop)bars will, in fact, ask for ID before entering and that would sadly ruin the trip for me and my group 😞. Id say my friends and I do look a bit older though, people usually assume I'm around 23-25. But what are the chances they just dont ask for ID, or are we screwed?
If anyone happened to be in the same situation or a similar experience Id be very eager to hear your advice.
