Re-take Calc or not?

I am an incoming Environmental STEM Master's student. A couple of the programs that I applied to required Calculus as a pre-requisite. Since I got a 3 on the AP Exam in high school, my college didn't count it as full credit, but I never had to take it for undergrad (took Pre-Calc and Stats instead). Since some of the programs required calculus, I took Calc 1 this Spring Semester.

Taking it while working a full-time job and after 6 years of no math was rough. Not to mention, I was doing an asynchronous class, and for some reason there were no lectures from the instructor, nor was there a curve on exams (highest score on final was a 65, class avg 45). I was teaching all of it by myself. I didn't pass by 3 points. I literally have never not passed a class before, even typical difficult classes like Orgo.

Anyways, I'm planning on going to grad school this fall. But I'm debating on if I should re-do Calc this summer. The grad program that I ended up choosing does not require Calc. However, I feel like I would like to redeem myself and I know that I can do better. But conversely, I would have to take an intense 8-week compressed version, and I also (biggest issue) would have to attend lectures twice a week in the middle of the day, which would greatly limit the amount and types of jobs that I could do this summer - and I was hoping to save up money for grad school (there may be a more flexible job that I could get, but idk!).

So, I'm conflicted if I should do Calc or not. Part of me wants to resist burnout before grad school and let myself work a job, save up money, and give my hobbies that I've abandoned a chance. Another part of me hates that there is now a failed grade on my transcript for the first time, and I worry that it will look bad if I ever want to apply to a PhD (unsure). Thoughts?

MATH Lecture

Hi everyone. I just failed my first ever college class - a MATH Class. It was distant learning, and I never received any lectures.

When I looked online at the RateMyProfessor review, strangely everyone mentions "great lecture videos" for the same class that I did, but I never received any lecture videos. They were never posted online, and the teacher was always weeks behind on grading.

Is there a way to report this? I'm unsure on who to talk to.... I feel like it's very unfair that I didn't recieve any lecture videos, whereas other classes have.

MA 211

Hi everyone, I've been doing MATH 211 (Calc 1) and I have a lot of questions about how this course is structured.

For context - I've never failed a class in college, yet I'm worried about failing this one.

I think the way that this class is set up is absolutely insane. Midterm and Final worth 60% of total grade, yet only 32 questions between the two. And--no curve!! I thought that maybe I was struggling in this class, but Canvas gives me the data: the mean for the Midterm was 35.6, the median being 36.4. The highest grade that someone got on the Midterm was an 85. I'm far above avg in this course, yet I still worry about failing it.

This can't be the same Ivy Tech Calc 1 class that everyone hailed as being easy during my undergrad. And when I look info about this class prior, people are talking about different expectations for the class. So I have to assume that Ivy Tech has made this much more difficult than it used to be--largely by changing the percentages. Am I wrong? Does anyone have any insight???
