19 and making decent money
I’m 19 and I’ve been working since I was 16. I don’t come from a struggling background—my family supported me with good private schooling and college—but I started earning early out of my own ambition.
Right now I run a business that does very good. The problem is managing it alongside university. I’m currently in my 2nd semester of IT, with morning classes, and it’s getting really hard to balance both. I feel stretched thin and not able to give 100% to either.
I’m considering switching to Data Science (DS) in the evening program so I can manage my business better during the day. Long-term, I want to build a software company, so I don’t want to sacrifice my future career just for my current income.
I’m not really interested in university life, events, or social stuff—my focus is purely on learning and building something meaningful.
Do you think switching to an evening DS program is a smart move in this situation? Or should I stick with IT and try to push through the current schedule?
Would appreciate honest advice, especially from people who’ve been in a similar position.
