I’ve been researching a lot about tiles and bathroom fittings lately while planning a home upgrade, and I realized how confusing it can get.

There are so many options like:

  • Ceramic vs porcelain tiles
  • Matte vs glossy finishes
  • Different types of shower systems and basins

From what I’ve seen so far:

👉 Porcelain tiles seem more durable and better for floors
👉 Matte tiles are safer for bathrooms (less slippery)
👉 Glossy tiles look great on walls and make spaces feel bigger

For bathroom fittings:

  • Brass shower sets seem to last longer
  • Minimal modern designs look much cleaner

One thing I noticed is that choosing purely based on price usually leads to regret later.

I also checked out a few showrooms here in Oman and noticed a big difference in quality and design depending on where you go.

I recently visited a showroom (Al Arab Ceramics) and they had a pretty good variety, but still exploring options.

Curious to hear from others:

👉 What worked best for your home?
👉 Any mistakes to avoid when choosing tiles or sanitaryware?
