Speeches During Ceremony

Hi everyone! My fiancé and I are getting married next year, and we’re planning a slightly unconventional ceremony. We’ve found that some ceremonies can feel a bit formal for our style, so we’re hoping to create something more relaxed and lighthearted. We still want the moment to feel meaningful and emotional, but also comfortable, where guests can laugh, react, and feel fully present.

One idea we’re considering is having the maid of honor and best man give their speeches during the ceremony itself. We like the idea of having everyone’s full attention, without the distractions of dinner service, and letting those speeches help set the tone.

Has anyone included speeches in their ceremony? If so, how did it go? (Also open to any other ideas for creating a more lighthearted, personal ceremony!)
