Because of the compromise, if Shinyhunters proceeds in selling the exposed data, it can be sold to the dark web and used to create identity fraud, financial fraud, phishing, and more security threats as student ID is leaked and other identifiers that link you to your identity. Also what else is leaked are canvas messages between students and professors.

So please change password and don’t attempt to log in. It’s only working for those whose institution already negotiated.

Additionally there is word that Canvas Infrastructure can be sued if they “allow” the leak.
