I just received the news today from our county caseworker that both of my parents have been approved for dual eligibility, Medicare and Medicaid in Pennsylvania. We’ve had the assessment from the independent broker and evaluation by our area on aging care and are waiting for the service coordinator for the insurance program, we chose to contact us. I have a few questions and was hoping someone could provide some advice and or guidance. Are the agencies you can be hired through competitive with their paying per hour? has anyone found one that has been better than the other? When the assessment takes place, any advice on how to get the maximum hours approved? My parents just sold their home and we are in the process of building. An addition onto our home for them to come live with us because they are not able to care for themselves independently so there will be a great need for hours of care. I guess I’m just looking for any advice from anyone that has gone through this and wish they had such done something different from the start. Thank you in advance for any advice.
