Issue with person sleeping on lower birth during daytime
So, my family and I — five people in total — were travelling in a 3AC coach with five confirmed tickets, while the other lower berth was occupied by a woman.
The journey started around 7 AM. After brunch at about 10 AM, everyone, including us, rested for a while. Around 1 PM, my family and I woke up, but the lady on the lower berth continued sleeping.
We waited quietly until around 3 PM one person sitting uncomfortably on top berth or standing. We thought she would wake up on her own so everyone could sit comfortably, but she didn’t. When we politely requested her to wake up now, her family refused, saying she wasn’t feeling well.
We understood their concern and mentioned that we had already adjusted for several hours, but we also wanted to sit comfortably. Instead, they suggested opening the middle berth and using that space, or having one person sit near her legs while another squeezed into the small RAC-style gap near their seats, which honestly didn’t feel comfortable or reasonable.
This led to an argument. One of their family members became aggressive and said things like, “We’ll do whatever we want with the lower berth.” We responded that daytime is generally meant for sitting, and occupying the lower berth for sleeping the entire day while others are forced to stand or squeeze into corners wasn’t fair.
I then suggested exchanging their side lower and side upper berths with our middle and top berths since they wanted to sleep continuously, but one of them replied, “Do whatever you want — call the RPF or TT — we won’t move.”
What should I do here?
