Hello, everyone, I don't use Reddit that much so forgive me if I'm doing this wrong. I have an important question about my periods (or really lack thereof). Should I go see an endocrinologist or a gynecologist for what's going on with my cycle? For context, I am a 24 AFAB that's around 230lbs with no hormone treatment or birth control.

Quick background, I got my first period in elementary school. It was relatively normal until around middle school where it started skipping multiple months. It would always come back, so my family and I weren't worried. In high school, it was still spotty but eventually stopped completely. It's been incredibly abnormal since then. I've been out of school for almost 5 years now. I've only had my period a few times in the past 3 years. A few were while I was working at McDonalds, and one other came after taking a vacation with my partner for a month. (For the sake of covering all bases: Yes, we did have penetrative sex multiple times, but we're both AFAB and only used a strap so there's no possibility of pregnancy.)

I do not get symptoms of a period at all unless there's the rare moment that I do get a period. When I do get them, though, they're a normal amount of painful and are able to be dealt with easily. The length and flow is normal, too.

All of the regular doctors I went to have told me it's my weight despite me losing many pounds and not seeing a difference, it's my stress levels (from my anxiety and C-PTSD from the household I was in) despite recovering well and not feeling anxious and being comfortable mentally for months, and/or that it's entirely okay so long as I'm not worried about fertility and don't have PCOS (I got tested for that, but nothing abnormal showed up). It might be my weight since I've been 'obese' since I was born, but even when exercising regularly and getting to a lower weight (see the above examples of the only time my periods have happened) it still is spotty to nonexistent. The only reason why I ask now is because one of the nurses said I need to get checked for my hormones even if PCOS isn't showing up, since it will hurt me down the road and she's been in a similar situation.

I think I show some signs of having extra androgens in my system, but I can't be sure. I have the oily skin (not much acne bc I take care of it) and the hirsutism. Not sure about the third common bodily symptom because I don't have any comparisons ahaha.

Thank you for reading the whole way through. Please let me know if there's anything else I should consider or information that I should give that may help provide an answer.
