Large back piece care

I just got my first tattoo on my arm, and was very diligent with my care. 2 weeks out and it looks great, little to no scabbing or issues. I am working on a design for a full back peice but it hot me thinking about the after care and how do most people deal with this?

Today marked the 3rd anniversary of my heart attack. I chose to memorialize the day by incorporating the the things I live them most; my grandkids and Jeeps. Will finish it with a mountain in the background and forest scene in the foreground, while leaving room to add more Jeeps as I am blessed with more grandkids.
