I'm a new VGC player with Champions, but I've had some exposure previously via friends and content creators. I also have experience in other competitive strategy games like Magic: The Gathering. I've had a blast in the initial launch window with a Mega Venusaur team that I picked up from Aaron Zheng.
I made it to Master Ball tier and have had about a 51% winrate so far but stall out around tier 3. I can feel a bit of the texture of the game but am aware that I'm lacking in some knowledge about matchups, speed control, placement, etc that's causing me to lose game. I want to level up for the next season, with a few questions for veteran players.
- Assuming Pokemon availability is no issue, should I commit to one team deeply or play a wide variety of styles?
- How fast does the meta update in a way that I need to change my pokemon? I.E. - the top teams from the global challenge might significantly beat my Mega Venusaur team
- What are the first steps to adjusting a team that I receive from a pro? Moves, stats, items, etc
and something general:
- Do we know what will happen in the next season already? New pokemon or items?
