I can only imagine this has been asked a million times, but thought I’d ask myself. I currently have a Chase Sapphire Preferred, Amex Gold, and Capital One Venture One (never gets used). I’m debating between adding a Sapphire Reserve, Amex Platinum, or Venture X but heavily leaning towards an Amex Platinum.

I’m 28 years old and a pilot. As much as the Venture X is appealing, I never book travel through card company portals (unless redeeming points) and almost strictly book directly with airlines. I also really want access to airport lounges and I read that Centurion Lounges are basically the best.

My question is, is the almost $900 annual fee worth adding (not replacing the Gold) the platinum to my lineup? From what I understand, the Gold gets the multiplier for food and groceries and the platinum is basically for booking travel and increased credits to certain things. Are there any credits that are underrated or not talked about as much that the platinum allows? Any and all input welcome, thanks!
