The food noise reduction is real.
I started on the 1.5 dose just about four weeks ago, and I’ve been doing well. I’ve had minimal side effects, and I’ve lost over 9 pounds. Of course I realize that I’m eating less, and that I’m not often hungry, but one thing I didn’t realize was how much the food noise was suppressed. Before I started, I didn’t pay much attention to the food noise, because I wasn’t restricting myself in any way, and so I wasn’t fighting against it. So when the noise became muted, I thought that maybe I didn’t have it that bad to start with.
Well. I’ll be seeing my provider on Monday, and she’ll prescribe another month’s worth. I get the pills from NovoNordisk. They took two weeks to send out the first month’s supply. Rather than risk running out, I decided to skip a day in-between doses, starting today. Late this afternoon, I was thinking about supper, since I was going out to eat. I already knew what I was getting - fish - but with my appetite not as suppressed as usual, and the acid reflux gone, I suddenly wanted other things. You don’t have to have fish, this seductive little voice said to me. You can have pasta. No, I decided, I wanted fish. Well, then, that voice went on, you can have a roll. And for a minute I could taste it, a warm French roll dripping with butter. I realized then what was going on. The food noise was back, with a vengeance. Yikes! I’m pleased to say that I did order fish, that I didn’t finish everything, and I didn’t have bread. But, man, for a while there it wasn’t easy.
All this to say that the med really does suppress the food noise, and thank god for that. It’s making it so much easier to stick to an eating plan. This med is a blessing.
