My wife and I both do UE driving occasionally. Tonight she was driving and had an alcohol delivery order. The customer was sober but had issues with their license and giving her any valid form of ID. She tried to be accommodating and waiting but the customer was being difficult. That attitude turned into some creepy behavior asking my wife if she was worried by being a girl all by herself at night with all of these predators around. Other things he said also creeped her out and wisely decided to GTFO of dodge. She immediately called Uber and reported the customer.
Uber first said they would only make sure she doesn’t get him as a customer again and thanked her for being a “good driver”. Seriously, WTF.
She came home, told me what happened and then called them again and demanded a supervisor and wanted this creep blacklisted from UE period. She said this guy really came off as a psycho and seemed likely the kind of person that would harm someone.
They still pushed back but eventually said they will request a blacklist for him from UE permanently. Do I believe them? Not really. I really don’t think Uber gives a **** about drivers or their safety.
This is actually the second time she’s had an incident with an Uber customer. Years ago when she was a regular driver she was held at gunpoint and forced to drive to various locations for some whacko. She was unharmed in the end but still when she reported it to Uber and the police (this was about 9-10 years ago) they (Uber) said the same thing. “Thank you for being a good driver” and that was all they did. It triggered some flashbacks for her.
Uber is a steaming pile of excrement and should be ashamed of themselves. They talk as if they care about driver safety but when push comes to shove they do little to nothing about it.
