Hey everyone!
I have, for the longest time wanted to play more turn-based games that have a very simple battle style, exactly like DQ8/11, FF10 or LOTR the third age (old gamecube/ps2 game). I have looked for a while, and I am really struggling to find something similar. It's not a hard requirement, but I like games that are quite long, that have a story I can get into, and have some kind of magic training / skill point system.
I like the linear and 3D overworld style that these games have, but I could do 2D games as well, if the combat system is similar. If there is some form of gear system that would be nice, and bonus points for being able to allocate skill points like in the LOTR game. I love a game that isn't super challenging, where I can grind to be quite OP, but specifically in this turn-based manner, as it makes for the most relaxed experience for me.
I have played Persona 4 and 5, as well as Yakuza: like a dragon, but i prefer medieval style games as opposed to games set in modern or futuristic settings. There are similar games that I have played, like Octopath Traveler 2, Golden sun, and the other DQ and FF games. However, I don't get a kick from replaying games, and I hope to find something I haven't tried yet with this simple battle system that I like, it can be from whichever era of gaming.
Just to cover all the bases, I grew up playing the Pokemon games, and I like those, but I'm not looking for a battle pet or pet collection game. I have also played Baldur's gate 3 and similar games, but that kind of system is a bit too complex compared to what I am looking for specifically.
