Hello! I hesitate to even call myself an artist as I mostly doodle, but I've started working on a TCG and wanted to try some concept art at the very least before I rush off to pay someone. I'm trying to learn and want to get some inspiration from other artists and art styles. However, it seems whenever I search on pinterest or google, I'm flooded by tons of art I think looks cool- only to find out that it's not "real art".

So I just wanted to know if there are any good websites or databases to peruse through when trying to get some ideas. Or do I just need to buy reputable physical media, like concept art books? Thank you so much!

Hey Guys! It's been about a week or two since I've started working on my first TCG (Well- first as an Adult). I've gone back and forth on different ways to win the game and haven't really found something that feels right, unique, yet simple. Obviously that's an incredibly hard balance to reach so maybe my lack of experience is showing in this pursuit of the unrealistic.

I want the game to be combat and damage focused but it feels so "basic" or "tired" to do life point based systems and there wouldn't be any reason to play this game over say MTG or YUGIOH. While I would rather the accumulation of points as a system (Like Pokemon or Riftbound), I either don't like the gameplay in Pokemon's case and I don't want to copy Riftbound.

So my question is: How do you guys settle on a primary win condition for your TCG's? Obviously I want to keep things as simple as possible using just cards, dice and counters so my options are limited. Do I just need to get out of my own head? Change my perspective? I feel like I can't move any further forward in the design process until I figure this out. I appreciate whatever advice you guys can send my way!

Hi again! I took all of your positive feedback, advice and tips and downloaded Master Duel. I've been having fun with the game; playing my Toon Deck and yoinking creatures with Comic Hand. That is- until I started losing every ranked game after my promotion to Silver 2. I'm seeing the utter lack of interaction Toons have and it feels like I'm just watching people play for minutes until I surrender. It's not fun but you guys told me so and I had to learn the hard way lmao. That being said, I don't want to play an archetype that truly has me sitting there doing nothing and losing from the start because then no shit I'm gonna hate this game.

So my question is: What is a good beginner deck or archetype that's actually good or at least decent that doesn't make me feel like a complete sellout? I have trouble playing things considered S Tier in any game, just doesn't sir right with me.

I usually like to play something that I find to speak to me in one way or another. So here is a list of things I like: Eldritch horrors, silly/goofy things, gambling, trick/chaos strategies, Robots, Mechs, Cute creatures, clowns/carnivals, space, Kaiju, animals and plenty more stuff.

I appreciate whatever ideas you guys can come up with, thanks so much for encouraging me to get back into the game!
