How common is spotting really?

This is my second pregnancy. Currently 8 weeks and 1 day. I will be 38 years old in a few days so everything adverse is freaking me out about this pregnancy because it’s considered “geriatric.” I’ve had some light spotting for a week now and I’ve read it is common with 30% of pregnancies but this did not happen with my daughter who I had at 31.

I had a yeast infection I wasn’t aware of and was treated for it last week; I finished the medication last night. It’s odd though because two days ago the spotting went away. Then it came back today. It’s very light pinkish brown color. I’ve called the OB every time to ask if I should go to the emergency room, they assured me to just keep an eye on it and as long as I wasn’t filling a pad front to back side to side and changing it within an hour it shouldn’t be cause for alarm. I’m not having any intense pain, just normal aches and upset stomach. I’ve had the absolute worst gas with this pregnancy and everything makes my stomach hurt to the point I had to start taking my prenatals before I went to sleep because they were causing me to have diarrhea. Just awful.

Ultimately, I am writing the this post cause I just want to ask: how many of you have experienced spotting during early pregnancy? Im sick with worry. I had an ultrasound this week at my 7w6d and the baby is measuring correctly and heartbeat was normal so on paper everything seems fine. I forgot how terrifying the first trimester is. 😫
