I feel pretty good about it for the most part, but I think it’s missing something and I just can’t put my finger on it.

Maybe I need more photo varieties? I should probably get a photo of myself with my dog, rather than just a shot of her in my car.

I really tried to convey that I’m just a fun loving nerd without falling into the trap of giant text walls listing all of my miscellaneous nerd interests. I figure that’s better for actual conversation.

I just want to make sure I’m putting my best foot forward and standing out from the pack

Georgia resident here. Company is FirstKey Homes.

I provided 30 days written notice that I’m not renewing my lease. My thought process was simply that once the lease expired, our transaction was complete and 30 days seemed like an appropriate amount of time to make arrangements.

Apparently, my lease specifically states I have to provide 60 days written notice or they’ll prorate rent for any days short of that, resulting in the $2,200 bill. Obviously that seems like an insane sum to me for such a dumb penalty clause. I told them that I had advised on a phone call back in January that I was going to move out at the end of my lease. They had a record of the call but said it doesn’t matter since I didn’t provide it in writing.

I’m still having a hard time wrapping my head around the idea that they can just elect to charge me for additional rent after the end of our contract.

Do I have any legal footing here? Is it a scam fee that I can just walk away from? Or do I just have to take it?
