I’ve worked in retail for over 20 years now. It’s always been tough at times with working with the public but recently it’s become 10 times worse. I work in an area where people are quite entitled. People don’t like being told ‘no’ . We’ve been called names, sworn at, shouted at, intimidated …..the list goes on. It’s getting harder and harder to stand there and just take it without saying something back and losing my job. I love all aspects of my job aside from this and am wondering if a whole career change is the only real answer. How do people cope staying working in retail?
