I posted this in the guitar repair section, but figure it may be a good idea to post here as well.

I just brought this '72-'74 SG-1 home. I was originally in the process of buying the guitar directly from a seller on offerup, but before we could meet, she ended up selling it to a pawn shop. After mentioning that on Reddit, someone suggested reaching out to the pawn shop to negotiate, which I did. I ended up buying the guitar (with the case) for $347 total.

I think the guitar looks really cool as is. A couple things to note: the neck looks good, the tuning keys turn well, but the knobs don’t turn at all. If I press the body together, the wood doesn’t move, so I’m wondering how I should glue the two pieces back. Someone suggested separating them entirely, applying glue, and clamping, but I’m not sure that’s the best way.

Any tips or direction would be great on repairing the split and bring the guitar back to life, as I'm not finding much about repairing splits on solid body guitars online.

This is my first guitar project.

Update to my post from last month where I was asking about repairing a SG-1 I was considering buying.

I just brought her home. I was originally in the process of buying the guitar directly from the seller, but before we could meet, she ended up selling it to a pawn shop. After mentioning that on Reddit, someone suggested reaching out to the pawn shop to buy it, which I did. I ended up getting the guitar (with the case) for $325 plus tax.

I think the guitar looks really cool. A couple things to note...All original...the neck and frets looks good, the tuning keys turn well, but the knobs don’t turn at all. If I firmly press the body together, there is no movement, I’m wondering how I should repair the body split. Someone suggested separating the body entirely, applying glue, and clamping, but I’m not sure that’s the best way.

Any tips or direction would be great. I'm not finding much about repairing splits on solid body guitars online. This is my first guitar project.
